Why I <3 Uni

Growing up comes with its revelations, and as the years unfold, my love and gratitude for the privilege of a higher education continues to deepen. Each day at school is a testament to the opportunities and knowledge that this journey unfolds, and here’s why I love university life so much:

1. Autumn, the Season of New Beginnings

Autumn is more than just a weather shift; it’s the sign of a new semester. After the chaos of summer travels, I appreciate the chance to settle into a routine, ready to learn about various topics for the next four months until the winter break.

2. Campus Romanticization: Living the Rory Gilmore Dream

While SFU does not get its popularity about campus appreciation, I am here to ___. I see the resemblance to prison buildings, but nevertheless, I absolutely love the Burnaby campus. There’s something utterly enchanting about walking around campus, and I can’t help but romanticize it. Pretending I’m Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls is the way I keep myself motivated on campus.

3. Coffee Break Bonding

The joy of spotting friends on campus, grabbing coffee breaks, and bonding over shared classes – it’s these moments that infuse a sense of camaraderie into the academic grind. These connections turn mundane days into memorable ones.

4. University Clubs

Being part of Vocal Jazz has helped me find my musical family. Surrounded by individuals who share the same passion for music creates an atmosphere of creativity. Being surrounded with such talented musicians motivates me to become a better musician, every passing day.

5. Inspiration for Self-Growth

University isn’t just about textbooks and exams, it’s also about personal growth. Inspired by the dynamic environment, I find myself creating schedules and sticking to them. There’s a newfound commitment to reading for pleasure, practicing the piano, and overall, elevating myself.

In the tapestry of university life, each thread represents a unique experience and a chance for growth. As I navigate this journey, the privilege of education becomes a beacon, guiding me toward continuous learning, self-improvement, and the joy of shared passions with my university community. Here’s to the ongoing adventure of higher education!

Lots of love,

Elisa <3
